Amanda Arenas was born and raised in San Francisco, California by two Filipino immigrants. As a child, her parents taught her the values that are shared amongst many immigrant families that decide to move to the United States: hard work, consistency, resilience, and, most important of all, financial stability. Due to the influence of her parents, she treated her schooling with the utmost importance, attaining a Bachelor’s degree at UC Santa Barbara in both Chemistry and English Literature. After graduating from college, Amanda went on to work for tech companies such as Google, Netflix, and Codecademy for over 10 years combined.

While Amanda was fervently pursuing her professional career goals, she was simultaneously exploring and nurturing her passion for the performing arts. Though she dabbled casually in theater, dance, and music throughout her childhood, she began to pursue ballroom and Latin dance seriously post-college. In 2013, she joined Couture Dance Alliance, a competitive salsa dance company run by Luis Aguilar, where she was able to perform and compete at major global congresses and competitions as well as teach in San Francisco. Eager to further her training, she eventually moved to New York City in 2017 to join world-renowned Yamulée Dance Company to train under Osmar Perrones. She worked her way up from Yamulée’s Student team to their Professional team, and traveled around the United States and Mexico to perform and teach with the team.

In 2019, Amanda began to train and dance in hip-hop and other street styles, and has since had so much fun exploring new ways of movement and performing such dynamic new styles of dance. She has most recently completed Broadway Dance Center’s Professional Semester and PMT Dance Studio’s Professional Trainee Program, where she has been able to diversify her training in various styles, such as Theater, Contemporary, Ballet, Tap, and Voice.

Amanda currently lives in Harlem, New York City, and loves traveling, the beach, anime, and strong cups of coffee. She is continuing to pursue opportunities performing, teaching, and choreographing while freelancing. If you would like to learn more about Amanda’s work experience, please see here.
